A Web Application Firewall (WAF) sits between your website and the internet, inspecting incoming traffic and blocking malicious requests before they reach your server. It protects against common attacks like SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and remote file inclusion (RFI).
Yes. Traditional firewalls protect at the network level (ports and protocols), while a WAF protects at the application layer (HTTP/HTTPS traffic). A WAF inspects the actual content of requests to block attacks that would otherwise pass through a standard firewall.
